Moving During The Winter

For starters, winter is seen as the least busy out of all the seasons. It’s mostly because kids are still in school so families tend to wait until school is out for the summer. This way, families can hold off on introducing their children to a new school system half way through the academic year.

Weather is a factor too. Winter brings the chance of snow and icy conditions, which can lead to multiple issues for moves, such as delays. While this may be a non-factor for the southern most states, the Northeast, for example, is always on snow watch from December to March. In fact, our corporate office is located in Rhode Island and we’re actually anticipating snow this weekend. The forecast has changed every day for the past week!

Whether you’re moving during the summer or winter, the best thing to do is always be prepared. Call in advance and make sure you have a checklist of everything that you need. Another way to be prepared is to expect the unexpected. We’d love to always get your things there in time, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans!

Stay safe this winter and if you’re driving yourself, make sure you have all the necessary tools in the event of an emergency. You can find a great kit here from our friends at AAA.
