Arpin Garden Exceeds Expectations In Its Second Year

From August to October, twelve trips were made to the West Warwick Senior Center in West Warwick, Rhode Island, which is the organization that was chosen to receive 100% of the produce grown.

The West Warwick Senior Center was established in 1977 as a community resource for recreation, education, meals, transportation, and wellness for seniors and those requiring aid. To learn more about the center, you can check out their Facebook page here.

Here were the donations by the numbers:

  • 3 zucchini
  • 10 cucumbers
  • 14 green peppers
  • 21 regular tomatoes
  • 198 cherry tomatoes

On top of that, 130 regular and cherry tomatoes that weren’t quite ripe yet were donated as well, with the hopes that they could ripen inside since the weather outside is now too cold.

We want to extend a huge “Thank You” to all of those individuals that made this possible, especially Jacavone Garden Center, the company that donated all of the plants in this year’s garden.

We have big hopes for next year and can’t wait to start getting things going again!
