2017’s Operation Safe Driver Week Comes To A Close

According to the CVSA, unsafe driver behaviors by most vehicles continue to be the leading cause of crashes. Since 2007, the FMCSA has compiled their annual “Large Truck Crash Causation Study,” which cites “driver behavior” as the cause of more than 88 percent of large truck crashes and 93 of those involving a passenger vehicle.

Here are the main violations that law enforcement looked for during the week:

  • Speeding
  • Failure to use a seatbelt
  • Distracted driving
  • Failure to obey traffic control devices
  • Improper lane changes

Each year, the CVSA compiles data on the warnings and citations issued after the week comes to a close. Click here for the report from 2016.
